Are you ready for Girl Guides?

This series has been written by Guiders and focuses on completing a Brownie or Guide badge in the Girl Guides of Canada program. Girls will cover the requirements for at least one badge and touch on other badge requirements.

BROWNIES

Water, Water Everywhere

Explore the science of water, how we use water and how we can conserve water. Think about where our water comes from and why it is important for us and all of nature.

Program objectives completed include: Key to the Living World: Water All Around (A, B, D, E, F); Interest Badges: Water, Water Everywhere; Special Interest Badge (STEM). To cover all objectives this is an indoor program, however some adaptations can be made.

GUIDES

Water For Life

Explore the ecology of water, water systems and what lives in and around the water. How do different animals use freshwater through their lives? How can we help improve and protect the water in our communities? Get creative and help spread the word about using water responsibly.

Program objectives completed include: Beyond You: Learn about our environment (#2, 3, 4 & 6); Interest Badges: Water (#1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 7). To cover all objectives this is an indoor program, however some adaptations can be made.

PATHFINDERS

Up Close And Personal With Nature

Explore the freshwater ecosystem up close! Compare the life found in different areas and test the water to see how the marsh, stream and pond are different. Consider how we have affected our water systems and how we can protect them.

Program objectives completed include: Let’s take it Outside: Up Close and Personal with Nature. This program can only be done in the spring or fall since a major component is outdoors taking samples.
