Seeking Environmental Interpreters
The Fluvarium, an interpretation and environmental education center, located in St. John’s, is seeking enthusiastic, outgoing individuals who enjoy public interaction, for Environmental Interpreter positions for the up-coming summer season.
The ideal interpreter(s) will process a background in biology/education, have great customer service skills and previous cash experience.
Duties will include significant interaction with the public; interpreting and delivering public education programs, providing information on the exhibits/ displays and Receptionist/Cash duties. Hours of work will include both weekdays and weekends.
Please Note: As these are externally funded positions, applicants are required to be students and intend to return to school for the next academic year.
This position is being advertised under the Student Summer Employment Programs (SSEP). There are two separate programs; one is aimed at employing post-secondary students called “SSEP – Post-Secondary” and to be eligible, students hired as part of the SSEP- Post-Secondary program must be entering or returning to Post-Secondary training within the next year and must be legally entitled to work in Canada. The second program is aimed at employing high school students and is called “SSEP – High School” and students hired as part of the SSEP-High School program must be enrolled in Level I, II, or III during the relevant school year and must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The Annual General Meeting of The Quidi Vidi/Rennie’s River Development Foundation is set for Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Noon in the main conference room at The Suncor Energy Fluvarium.
Members of the general public are welcome to attend this public meeting of the QVRRDF.
Annual election of officers and board members will also take place at the AGM.

The QVRRDF through education, advocacy and stewardship inspires the protection, conservation and enhancement of freshwater ecosystems of the Northeast Avalon region of Newfoundland and Labrador. The QVRRDF operates The Suncor Energy Fluvarium as a public centre for environmental excellence. Our catering operations help support this mandate.
Reporting directly to the Catering Manager, you would be operating The Fluvarium’s bar as needed during catering functions. Our functions range from weddings and business events to Christmas parties and fundraising events.
This posting is for a casual part-time position. Hours will vary and include, day, evening, nights, weekends.
Responsibilities will include:
- Serving drinks to a variety of customers.
- Mixing drinks as required.
- Operating a cash register.
- Balancing the opening/closing cash reports.
- Cleaning and maintaining the bar.
- Serving food during functions.
- Washing dishes as required.
- Other related duties.
